![]() ![]() Today I'm taking a look at two massive Game Of Thrones mods for medieval mercenary sim Mount & Blade: Warband that are vying for a prize greater than any uncomfortable-looking (and now rather warm) throne your free time. Or, thanks to the wonders of modding, interactive self-insert fan-fiction! Where does that leave a fan desperate for their next hit of medieval grimness and scheming? Fan-fiction, probably. Martin finishes writing his own take on the finale. Originally posted by Tuidjy:The ♥♥♥ is utter sнiт.Every other Monday, Dominic gives you a reason to dust off one of your old games and dive into its mods with Modder Superior.Īnd as the dust settles over King's Landing (and your TV), the Game Of Thrones concludes until George R. AWoIaF has redeeming qualities, and can actually be played as a Warband game. Why is Clash of Kings bad?The ♥♥♥ is bad because it simply does not work. ![]() Here is what I wrote an year or so ago, when I tried it last: At least, it did not work the last three times I gave it a honest try, and I am not going to try again. I have no idea who the creators of the other mod are, and I am certainly not motivated by them, but in my opinion, the ♥♥♥ is not worth playing, at all. ![]() Nice to look at, but not even close to a good Warband experience. Poorly modeled weapons, whole troop lines that are functionally useless, bad map nodes, broken lord A.I., nonsensical damage model, broken diplomacy, a ton of exploits, unearned, overly powerful rewards for trivial tasks, frustrating random events, hanging triggers, imported mods without understanding of what makes them work. The other mod, whatever of fire and ice, is at least playable. Neither is really top ten material, in my opinion, although if you forced me to choose, I'd at least try playing the fire&ice.Ĭonsidering what a piece of work the developer is, I doubt the ♥♥♥ has changed for the better.Īnd what are Awoiaf redeeming qualities?Challenge, for one. (It was before the recent improvements to the Northern goblins) It's hard, but not impossible if you are coming to it after playing The Last Days as an orc, as I was. There are also a lot of interesting mechanics, and they are actually working, as opposed to the ones in the ♥♥♥. I started a brand new character so this may not occur with imported high level characters: just imagine you are a prisoner who has just been released after spending a few years in an oubliette.īalance is messed up, because the player is indeed stupidly underpowered. you cant recuit in villages if your renown is lower than 100(? could have been 50). troops have generally a high level (7-15 at tier 1) and high proficiencies. The first time i trained a village to defend itself that first peasant clubbed me to death in seconds. The only workaround for me was getting a Florett in Braavos which is a sword with 140 speed They block faster than you, hit faster than you and are overall better even with the horrible AI. Therefore training troops to a higher tier is only possible with high level characters. combine that with the high proficiencies and you will have a tough time. I bought a bow and 2 quivers to be able to kill simple looters. And I sticked to looters because every other enemy has shields.Tried killing them some other way but it was impossible for me. bandit spawns are ignored by the NPCs which makes them come for you only. Also there are tier 6 groups of robber knights in 2 regions (basically half the map) which will hunt only for you. There is no way escaping them than hiding in a city because of their OP speed. nightwalkers can only be hurt by valyrian steel, fire arrows and obsidian arrows. So you need tier 5 nightwatch troops to face them. they run fast like horses with 36 horse speed :D Getting those weapons for you seems like a big struggle. It seems that a lot of troops is highly specialised. Pirates look weak at first but in close quartes they just mow down everything with their low reach high speed weapons. So if you prefer starting on the other end of the world you will have to adapt. Basically the learning curve in this one is on a completely different level. If you want to get rich wait for 10 days so the markets stabilize, go to the north or nightwatch and buy furs. ![]()
